These 15 Big Sun Habanero chili seeds come from our own plants in Berlin, producing fruity, productive and hot yellow habaneros.

Origin & Breeding

The Big Sun Habanero is a large, golden-yellow variety of Capsicum chinense, originally developed in West Africa. Known for its thick flesh, high productivity, and tropical flavor, it has become a popular choice for both fresh consumption and hot sauce making. Its vibrant color and reliable heat make it a standout among habaneros.

    • Germination & Growing

      • Start indoors (Nov–Jan) in nursery trays or 5×5×5 cm pots.

      • Use light, well-draining seed-starting soil.

      • Soil temp: 26–30 °C, Air temp: 22–28 °C, Humidity: >60%.

      • Use a humidity dome + heating mat.

      • Provide 12–16 hours of light daily.

      • Add airflow with a fan after germination.

Flavour Profile & Heat
The Big Sun Habanero has a bright, tropical flavour with notes of citrus and garlic, followed by a fast, sharp burn. Heat typically ranges from 250,000 to 350,000 SHU, placing it among the hottest habanero types, yet still well-balanced for culinary use.

Note: These seeds were open-pollinated in proximity to superhot pepper varieties, which may result in slightly smaller pod sizes and increased heat levels. Flavor and productivity remain excellent, but some variation may occur in plant traits.
