Origin and breeding

The Yellow Moruga Scorpion is a color variant of the original Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, one of the world’s most infamous superhots. Bred in Trinidad and Tobago, this yellow type was selectively developed to emphasize a sweeter, citrus-forward flavor while maintaining the signature ferocity of its red counterpart. It’s known for its wrinkled, bumpy pods and relentless heat.

Growing in our Berlin setup

• We start these indoors from November to January in Berlin, using grow lights and a heating mat. Adjust the timing to your climate and setup. We use nursery trays or 5×5×5 cm pots.
• Use light, well-draining seed-starting soil.
• Soil temp: 26 to 30 °C, Air temp: 22 to 28 °C, Humidity: >60%.
• Use a humidity dome + heating mat.
• Provide 12 to 16 hours of light daily.
• Add airflow with a fan after germination.

Flavour and heat

Fruity with citrus notes and a deep, lingering burn.

Estimated heat: 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 SHU.

Our peppers haven’t been lab-tested for Scoville heat.

We grow each variety ourselves before offering the seeds, and save seeds from peppers that best match the variety. Our plants are open-pollinated, so you may still see some variation in the peppers you grow.
